Solve it in seven steps
Each step shows the face before and after, the algorithm in mono type, and a tip for the tricky case. New to the symbols? Jump to the notation glossary.
1 · Meet your cube
A solved cube has six faces. Each has a name (letter) and a color. Centers never move — they tell you the true color of each face.

Opposite faces are always these pairs:

Each letter turns ONE face. = clockwise · = counter-clockwise (the prime ') · = 180° (the 2).

White cross

You're building this directly on the white face with white held on top. Find each white edge in turn, position it under its matching side centre, then bring it up into the cross.

Easy beginner pathIf a white edge is on the bottom under its matching centre, do F2 (or R2 / L2 / B2) to lift it straight up into the cross.Edge on the side layerRotate that face once so the white sticker moves to the top or bottom, then bring it up with F2 / R2 / etc.Tip · Some tutorials build a 'daisy' first (white edges around the yellow centre on the bottom, then flip the whole cube). That's optional — the after image here shows the final white cross with white on top, which is what step 2 needs.

White corners

Find a white corner in the bottom layer, rotate D until it sits directly under its target slot (between the two matching side centres), then repeat the right-hand trigger R' D' R D until it pops up white-side-up. The trigger only affects that one corner slot, so other solved pieces aren't disturbed once you finish.
Hold · White still on top. U face fills in with white as you finish each corner.
Right-hand trigger (repeat 1, 3, or 5×)R' D' R DTip · Don't worry which way the white sticker faces in the bottom — keep running the trigger (max 5 times) and the corner ends up white-on-top, correctly oriented.

Middle layer edges
BeforeUpLeftFrontRightBackDownAfterUpLeftFrontRightBackDownchange on F faceGoal: solve the four edges of the middle layer so the top two layers (when held white-down) are completely done. Flip the cube so yellow is on top — the unsolved middle edges now live in the top layer. Find a top edge with NO yellow on it (yellow means it belongs on the bottom face, not the middle). Spin U until its front colour matches the front centre, forming an upside-down T. Then look at the edge's top colour: if it matches the RIGHT centre, send it right; if it matches the LEFT centre, send it left.
Hold · Flip the cube — yellow is now on top. Work the side faces (F, R, B, L).

Yellow cross (orient edges)

Look at the yellow stickers on top: you'll see a dot (no edges up), an L-shape (two adjacent edges up), a line (two opposite edges up), or already a cross. Each run of the algorithm advances you one stage: dot → L → line → cross. Hold an L-shape with its two yellow edges at the back-left, or hold a line horizontally, before running.
Hold · Yellow on top (the D face below shows what's currently on top in your hand).
FRUR'U'F'F R U R' U' F'Tip · Ignore the side colours of the cross for now — they're handled in step 5. Only the yellow pattern on top matters here.
- Step 5
Permute yellow edges
BeforeUpLeftFrontRightBackDownAfterUpLeftFrontRightBackDownchange on D faceGoal: rotate the yellow-cross edges so each one's side sticker matches its centre (red edge by red centre, etc). After spinning U, you'll usually find two adjacent edges that already match their centres. Hold those two matched edges at the BACK and RIGHT, then run the algo — it swaps the remaining two front/left edges without breaking what's solved.
Hold · Yellow on top. Check the side stickers of the yellow cross.
Sune-style edge swapR U R' U R U2 R'Tip · If no two edges match after spinning U, run the algo once from any angle — two matching edges will appear and you can continue.
- Step 6
Position yellow corners
BeforeUpLeftFrontRightBackDownAfterUpLeftFrontRightBackDownchange on D faceGoal: get each yellow corner to its correct slot (between the right pair of side centres). Orientation — making yellow actually face up — comes in step 7, so a corner can be in the right place but twisted wrong here. To check: a corner is in the right slot if its three colours match the three adjacent centres, in any rotation. Hold one such 'correctly placed' corner at front-right-top and run the algo to cycle the other three into place.
Hold · Yellow on top. Focus on the four corners of the top face.
Corner 3-cycleU R U' L' U R' U' LTip · If no corner is in the right slot to start, run the algo once from any angle — one corner will lock into place, then continue from there.
- Step 7
Orient yellow corners
BeforeUpLeftFrontRightBackDownAfterUpLeftFrontRightBackDownchange on D faceGoal: rotate each top corner in place so yellow points up — finishing the cube. Hold an unsolved corner at front-right-top and run R' D' R D until its yellow sticker is on top (2 or 4 repeats). The rest of the cube will look completely scrambled during this — that's expected, the trigger only twists the front-right-top corner. Then turn ONLY the U face (never rotate the whole cube) to bring the next unsolved corner to front-right-top and repeat.
Hold · Yellow on top. Final step — solved cube appears as the last corner orients.
Right-hand trigger (repeat 2 or 4×)R' D' R DTip · Critical: only U turns between corners, never a full cube rotation — that's what keeps previously oriented corners in place. When the last corner is done, one final U turn solves the cube.
Notation glossary
Every algorithm is a sequence of single-letter moves. Hold the cube with one face as Front and read left-to-right.

Example: R U R' U' = right clockwise, up clockwise, right counter-clockwise, up counter-clockwise. This is the famous "sexy move".
